Motorcyclist ID'd After 'Severe' Manheim Township Crash, Police Say

A 50-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash, the Manheim Township Police announced on Monday, June 3.

Luis Rodriguez, 50 of the 2000 block of Pennwick Road in Lancaster, died from Multiple Traumatic Injuries in what the Lancaster County Coroner's office has ruled an accident. 

Rodriguez was in a crash in the 1600 block of Oregon Pike/PA Route 272 near Chester Road around 11:38 am on Friday, May 31, 2024, the police detailed in the updated release. 

Arriving officers found Rodriguez suffering from "severe injuries and immediately attempted life-saving measures," as stated in the release. He was taken to Lancaster General Hospital, where he died, according to the police and confirmed by the coroner's office. 

The other vehicle involved in the crash was a Hyundai SUV, and according to the police, the driver "remained on scene and was cooperative."

The road remained closed for about four hours for the police investigation. 

This fatal crash remains under investigation, and so far no charges have been filed.
